Sayulita is often described as a picturesque fishing village, a surfer's haven, or just a really cool little town for a laid-back vacation. It is all that and more, thanks to its unique blend of small-town Mexican charm and casual sophistication. Horses still (occasionally) clatter down the cobblestone streets and chickens roam freely, yet little tiendas (shops) carry surprisingly cosmopolitan products. You can buy tacos on the street, yet fine dining is readily available. Many visitors come from outside Mexico, yet Sayulita remains decidedly Mexican. Come visit us for an authentic Mexican experience!
Examples of some of the activities and services available in Sayulita
- Surfing/water sports: The village is widely known as a surf haven for beginner to advanced surfers. Rent a board or take a lesson from one of the surf shops in town or on the beach. Boogie boards, stand-up paddleboards, and sea kayaks can also be rented. Scuba and snorkeling trips can be arranged.
- Fun transportation rentals: Golf cars, dune buggies, 4-wheelers, scooters, and bicycles can all be rented here to get around Sayulita.
- Swimming and beaches: Sayulita has some of the best beaches in the area. The main beach is located right in town while many people prefer to stroll down to the less-crowded north-end beach. It is a short walk from Casa de Ensueño to Playa de Los Muertos, a beautiful beach surrounded by rock outcroppings. Another option is Playa Carracitos, a 30-minute walk through the jungle but worth the effort to get to this secluded hideaway.

- Horses/Zip lines: No adventurer’s vacation to Sayulita would be complete without a trip to the jungle canopy tour or a horseback ride.
- Galleries and Art: Sayulita boasts quite a few attractive art galleries throughout the village. Evelyne Boren has an open house at her art studio every Wednesday afternoon during the winter.
- Shopping: Whether you're looking for fashionable clothing, custom jewelry, home furnishings, surf and swim gear, handicrafts, gifts, or souvenirs, you'll find it all in the shops of Sayulita. On weekends, vendors set up booths to sell all sorts of items from crafts to clothing.
- Sailing/snorkeling/whale-watching/fishing: You can book a trip on a sailboat or fishing boat and enjoy a day of water activities on the beautiful Pacific Ocean. Las Marietas, a group of uninhabited islands preserved as a wildlife refuge, are nearby and a popular destination for nature lovers.
- Day trips: These can easily be arranged through local taxi drivers or tour operators and can be as adventurous or relaxing as you wish. Examples include a short trip to neighboring San Francisco (San Pancho) for a day at the beach and some new restaurants -- perhaps followed by a Mexican Fiesta with folk music & dancing, or a trip up into the mountains to a little silver mining village, or maybe a bird-watching trip to San Blas for a boat ride through the mangrove swamps to an alligator farm. The options are endless and we can advise and assist you.
